Volunteers in Police Service
The Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS) program allows interested citizens the opportunity to serve their community by assisting the Police Department. These dedicated volunteers begin their service by successfully completing a 30-hour training program which includes instruction on police procedures, patrol operations, investigations, emergency communications and the law.
In addition to providing administrative assistance in the Police Department, V.I.P.S. patrol in a specially marked vehicle, reporting suspicious activity, checking homes for vacationing residents, and assisting patrol officers with traffic control and other duties.
The V.I.P.S. program is the essence of Community Oriented Policing, and we’re very proud to have these dedicated volunteers serving our agency. Citizens interested in participating in the Volunteers in Police Service program are asked to call 386-248-9475 or Email.
